Authorship

Jurnal Proteksi Tanaman (Journal of Plant Protection) (JPT) promotes fair recognition of scholarly contributions and accountability for published work.

1. Authorship Criteria

To qualify as an author, an individual must meet the following criteria:

  1. Make a substantial contribution to the study’s conception or design, or to the collection, analysis, or interpretation of its data.

  2. Draft the manuscript or critically revise its intellectual content.

  3. Approve the final version for publication.

  4. Accept responsibility for ensuring that concerns about the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Everyone who meets these criteria must be included as an author. Individuals who make substantial research contributions must have an opportunity to participate in manuscript preparation, revision, and approval.

2. Author Contributions

Manuscripts must include an Author Contributions statement describing each author’s role. An author may have several roles, and a role may be shared by multiple authors. Assignment of a role does not replace the requirement to meet all authorship criteria.

3. Contributors and Acknowledgments

Funding, general supervision, administrative assistance, provision of facilities, technical support, or language editing alone does not establish eligibility for authorship. Contributors who do not meet all authorship criteria should be recognized in the Acknowledgments, with their permission and a description of their assistance. JPT prohibits honorary, gift, guest, purchased, and ghost authorship, including the omission of eligible authors.

4. Corresponding Author

The corresponding author coordinates communication with JPT and ensures that all authors approve the submission, author list and order, contribution statement, and final manuscript. This author also coordinates required declarations and responses to editorial inquiries before and after publication.

5. Author Order and Changes in Authorship

Authors must agree on their order before submission. Requests to add, remove, or reorder authors must explain the reasons and include written agreement from all authors, including anyone being added or removed. Changes order after acceptance are considered only exceptionally; approved changes after publication require a formal correction.

6. Authorship Disputes

Authors are responsible for resolving disagreements over authorship. JPT may suspend manuscript processing while a dispute remains unresolved and refer the matter to the relevant institution. The journal does not adjudicate authorship disputes.

7. Artificial Intelligence

AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Human authors remain responsible for the entire manuscript and must disclose AI use in accordance with JPT’s AI Usage Policy.
