Repository Policy

Jurnal Proteksi Tanaman (Journal of Plant Protection) or JPT is committed to the wide dissemination and accessibility of research, promoting the global knowledge exchange by archiving scholarly work. To support this goal, we permit and encourage authors to deposit different versions of their manuscripts in institutional, thematic, or public repositories. This policy aligns with our open-access commitment and the copyright terms of the published articles.

Versions Allowed for Repository

Submitted Version (PrePrint):

This version refers to the original manuscript that the author submitted to JPT for consideration before the peer review process begins. This version has not undergone any editorial modifications, including peer review, formatting, or content changes. This version should clearly state that it is an unreviewed manuscript to avoid confusion with the final, peer-reviewed article.

Depositing the PrePrint in a repository allows the author to share their research findings early, enabling immediate feedback from the scholarly community. It also establishes a timestamp for the work, which can be important in fields with rapidly developing research.

Accepted Version (PostPrint)

This version is a manuscript accepted for publication following peer review. It includes all revisions made during the peer review process but does not include the final formatting and typesetting provided by the journal. The PostPrint should acknowledge that it is the accepted version of the manuscript and not the final published article.

By depositing the PostPrint, authors can share the validated content of their research, reflecting the peer-reviewed improvements while ensuring that it is accessible before the official publication is released.

Published Version (Record)

This is a published version, as it appears in JPT. This version has undergone complete editorial processing, including formatting, typesetting, and final proofreading. It must be clearly indicated that this version is JPT's official article. Depositing the Version of the Record ensures that the most authoritative version of the manuscript is available to the public, reflecting the journal's final work.

Ownership and Purpose of Repository Versions

The repository versions of the manuscript are intended solely for archival purposes and are not to be considered duplicates of the official publication. The definitive version of the manuscript, known as the Version of Record, is the article published by JPT.

Archival Use: The purpose of depositing these versions in repositories is to ensure the long-term preservation and accessibility of the research. Repositories serve as a secure storage location, allowing others to access the research even if the journal or its hosting platform is no longer available.

No Duplication: The repository versions cannot be viewed as alternative publications. They should be clearly marked as either PrePrint, PostPrint, or Version of Record and must include proper attribution to JPT. The official publication remains the Version of the Record hosted on the journal's website.

Copyright and Repository

Copyright Ownership

Authors retain the copyright to their work under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) License. This license permits others to share and adapt the work non-commercially, provided appropriate credit is given and any derivative works are distributed under the same license.

Acknowledgment and Attribution

When depositing any manuscript version, authors must include a full citation of the original publication in JPT (journal name, year of publication, volume, issue, and DOI). This ensures proper attribution and directs readers to the official version of the Record.

Licensing Terms

All versions deposited must include clear information about the applicable licensing terms (CC BY-NC 4.0), ensuring that users know their rights and obligations when using the work.

Compliance with Open Access and Copyright Policies

This repository policy is designed to support the open-access mission of JPT while respecting the rights of the authors and the journal. By facilitating the archiving of all versions of an article, the journal ensures broad accessibility and long-term preservation, contributing to the global dissemination of knowledge.

Authors are encouraged to utilize repository services to enhance the visibility, accessibility, and impact of their work while always acknowledging JPT as the official publisher. This approach aligns with the principles of transparency, best practices in scholarly publishing, and respect for the copyright terms under which the articles are published.
